dropping off a stranger.

I had a situation today that involved me taking a stranger to his ‘home’ - or wherever he was telling me to randomly drop him off.

Before that, we had our regularly scheduled Thursday meeting with a company that I partnered with an uncle of mine, and a few professors and other individuals, to go through whatever needed to be addressed and presented ( in other words, a company housekeeping, pretty much). That same uncle, who I’ve known for quite some time now, was very much into having a relationship with God as a key foundation of an individual’s lifestyle — which I really wanted to make a priority this year and grow with the relationship.

So as we ended the meeting, me, my uncle, and a professor walks out the building and we notice this guy outside with a sleeveless shirt with no shoes in a 55 degree weather randomly walking around the vicinity.

Apparently he was a student at the nearby school since the professor knew who he was, but we asked him common questions like, “where are your shoes?” Although we got an answer,  we weren’t really paying attention to him because we were just ready to go home. So we find out he lives closest to where I’m heading, and so shoe-less man gets into my car.

I figured he didn’t know his exact street address to his place so I told him to just point and tell me to go, “left or right,” when I start driving. He didn’t really give me a definite answer to any of what I was telling him and thats where things started to get a bit strange, but I still left the lot. But before  I could put my gear into ‘drive,’ I see my uncle run through my sideview mirrors (lol), telling me to hold on and park real quick.

Is this kid on something? Does he really know how to get to his place? Or even, does he even have a place to live? Is he a robber of some sorts? (ha-yeah that went through my head)

So we asked shoe-less boy the same questions, but now all of his answers were twisted and weren’t the same as the initial interrogation from earlier. And finally my uncle asks, “be honest with us, do you have a place to stay,” and shoe-less man takes a deep breath. As he exhales, he puts his head down and answers, “no,”

To make a long story short, the three of us (me, my uncle and the professor) were able to shelter this kid out of the cold, got food for him and made sure he was alright.

And I remembered the passage I posted just yesterday during my reading -

34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. 36 I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’ 37 “Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? 39 When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,[c] you were doing it to me!’
Matthew 25:34-40

I just wanted to share. :) Be blessed.
